Chapter 15. Errors

• A file/dir with the same name already exists in this directory . Specify another file name which do not exists in the directory

• At least one VFS could not be read successfully . One of the VFS file on your scanned CD or directory was either unreadable or corrupted.

• At least one disk name was empty. A random name was used instead . You just have to find the random disk name in the catalog, edit it and give it the right name

• Can't create file. Permission denied, disk full or wrong path. . Self explanatory

• Can't open file. . The file does not exist or may be unreadable to you. In the latter case, check its permissions

• Can't save to config file . Check permissions of your home directory, the space left on your hard drive...

• Can't write file . Check permissions on the directory you want to write and for left space on your hard drive

• Could not find config file . GTKtalog creates a new config file when it is not present (eg : you moved the ~/.gtktalog directory). So this message indicates there is a space problem on device or a permission problem on your user home directory

• Empty string. No change . This happens when you enter an empty category string in the new category name window. Your category must have a non empty name.

• File does not exist or is not a standard file . This is not a GTKtalog file

• File is not a GTKtalog file (Too Small!). . Self explanatory

• File is not a GTKtalog file (v4 file format). . Make sure you open the right file in the right directory. If you are sure this is a catalog file, ask the authors for help

• File is not a GTKtalog file. . Make sure you open the right file in the right directory. If yu are sure this is a catalog file, ask the authors for help

• File seems to have been generated with a version older than 0.0.18 (at least) of GTKtalog. Formats are incompatibles. Send a mail to the authors to know what to do. . Self explanatory

• File seems to have been generated with a version older than 0.1.0 of GTKtalog. Formats are incompatible. Try `./configure --enable-catalog2' then recompile gtktalog. Or use the converter! . Prefer the last solution :). You can find the converter on GTKtalog web site.

• File seems to have been generated with a version older than 0.10.1 of GTKtalog. Formats are incompatibles. Try `./configure --enable-catalog3' then recompile gtktalog . Prefer updating to the new GTKtalog format !!

• Files inside Virtual File Systems cannot be displayed . You tried to view a file inside a VFS (by double clicking on it) but GTKtalog does not allow this.

• Name field is empty. Type a file name or cancel. . You must provide a non empty file name before proceeding.

• Please specify something to search. At least check that the file name match mode is not N/A! . In the search window you must specify at least one condition. This can be the file name match or anything else

• The disk has an invalid path. Report the bug to the authors. . Just do it !

• The file does not exist.Maybe it was removed or it is on a CD.In this case, load the CD, mount it and try again . Self explanatory

• The filename contains `%f'. This conflicts with the viewer definition. . A file containing the %f string cannot be opened with the viewer. Change its name and try again.

• The loading of this old catalog has failed.Ensure this is a good catalog and Email the authors specifying the problem . Self explanatory

• The specified MIME is not valid. Nothing will be done. . For more informations on MIME types see Chapter 5

• The viewer could not be found. . make sure that the viewer is in your path

• This file has no viewer, and it cannot be displayed as text. . The file is a binary file (for example, like a program).

• Thread failed.Check your number of threads. . Close some programs or if you know what you do use the ulimit command

• Unable to open /proc/mounts . Check with an editor that you can view the content of this file. If not, check the permissions

• Unable to open fstab file . Check with an editor that you can read the content of this file. If not, check the permissions

• Wrong category . Should not happen ... try to delete and create again the buggy category the report dislikes

• Wrong disk name . Should not happen ... try to delete and scan again the buggy disk the report dislikes

• You are trying to load a catalog saved in an old format .... . Read carefully all the message ... it gives the answer !

• You can only merge catalogs generated with gtktalog version >= 0.10.1 . Convert your catalogs to the latest version of GTKtalog

• You have to set the disk location . Use the preferences dialog to set the disk location. See Section 13.1.2

• You have to write the disk label . You must type a disk label when adding a directory to the catalog
