The most common type of printer connection is a "Local printer" connected to the PC, but other options are also available:

Select "Printer on remote server" if the printer is located on another Linux or Unix machine.

Select "Printer on SMB/Windows 95/98/NT" if the printer is located on a Windows PC (9x or NT) within the LAN.

The printer can be either probed automatically (with auto-detection) or manually. Some computers can lock-up during auto-detection, but most modern printers can be safely detected by the installer.
